Fellina, LoveHändel and Sunlover invite you to the first Amsterdam Fairie Film Night. And it promises to be a warm one, as the feature film will be the sensual (and very explicit) movie “Shortbus” by John Cameron Mitchell (2006).
- From 17.00hrs on you’re welcome at Fellina’s en LoveHändel’s place, at the Binnenkadijk 259 in Amsterdam, to settle down have a drink and a chat.
- From 18.30hrs we’ll share a meal together. Please bring some food and drinks to share, preferably non alcoholic. We’d love it if you to let the movie inspire you to give the food, drink and dress you bring a sensual touch. But of course only if you want to.
- From 20.00hrs we’ll watch the movie together on a big screen. If there’s a need to share we can have a small circle afterwards.
You’re welcome to join us for all the parts, but feel free join or leave at any time you want. Fairies from outside Amsterdam who want to spent the night are more than welcome, but please let us know in advance, so we’ll know there’s enough space for all.

About the movie:
The movie “Shortbus’ touches on issues which are very interesting within Fairie space as well. It tells the story about a few couples and individuals (some gay, some straight) trying to find their way in relationships, intimacy and sexuality. In doing so John Cameron chooses to display this intimacy and sexuality very explicit. “Shortbus” is unique in this way, showing intimate stuff in all it’s openness, as we experience ourselves, instead of an obligatory censoring sunset, just when things are getting interesting.
The fascinating thing is that this doesn’t turn the movie in to sleazy porn, but rather the opposite it shows how vulnerable people get when intimacy is involved. But it also shows that sex can be funny and uplifting. In the end it actually shows that it’s very important to create a safe place to enjoin all the things. And it ‘s also a celebration of your body as the perfect to tool to have fun with.
So in short: food for Fairie thought…
